WESTERVELT WILDLIFE SERVICES OPENS SOUTH CAROLINA OFFICE

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – To meet growing market demand, Westervelt Wildlife Services has opened its newest office in Columbia, South Carolina.
“This was an easy decision for us,” said Dave Edwards, Manager of Westervelt Wildlife Services.
“We have been providing wildlife management guidance to South Carolina landowners for over 5 years and our business in this area has grown to the point that we needed to add a local biologist to our team to service the needs of our clients.
“One of the reasons we have done so well in South Carolina is that quality hunting is still part of a culture that Carolinians hold close to their heart.  They value wildlife on their properties and want to ensure they are managing their land in a way that will optimize game animals and their habitat – which is what Westervelt does best,” he said.
The Westervelt Company recently purchased nearly 13,000 contiguous acres of prime hunting land in the Low Country region of the state and will lease the property to hunting clubs.
While many of the existing clientele practiced quality deer management in the past, Westervelt’s Columbia-based biologist, Jordan Smith, will establish a trophy deer management cooperative that will encompass the entire property, while working closely with the hunting clubs to ensure the program is a success.
Smith is a wildlife biologist with a broad range of experience. He has been involved in research projects where he studied various aspects of white-tailed deer, elk, red-cockaded woodpeckers, and other game species in the Southeast. He spent 4 of these years researching and developing innovative survey techniques, such as the use of thermal imagery, to estimate white-tailed deer populations in the Southeast.
Smith is a Certified Prescribed Fire Manager and is certified to install artificial red-cockaded woodpecker cavities.
The office is located at 213 Grampian Hills Road in Columbia, South Carolina, 29223.
